POET OF THE MONTH -January 2010- Linda
|

IT WAS WRITTEN IN PART FROM WORDS I HAD WRITTEN IN MY JOURNAL FROM A BOOK BY LYNN AUSTIN:
'OUR SHORT TIME ON EARTH IS NOT ABOUT WHAT WE ACCOMPLISH, BUT WHAT SORT OF PEOPLE WE BECOME - GOD USES WORKS TO TEACH US TO CARE FOR OTHERS.'
NEW YEAR'S CHOICE 2010
Dawn's light wakes the morning, a new year greets the day. I kneel before my Savior and ask Him to guide my way.
With head bowed low to listen, I hear His still small voice, "Walk closely in my presence, You need to make a choice."
In silence I wait and wonder, "What do these words mean for me? Will He ask me to return to Haiti, or speak at the Women's Tea?"
He whispered, "Do you remember the day you became my own? You told me I was welcome to make your heart my home?"
"Yes, Lord, I remember, I promised my life was yours. Should I serve you in the nursery or scrub the church's floors?
I hear someone is needed down at the town's thrift store. I could give comfort to the homeless and clothing to the poor.
Our home is always open to give rest to weary souls. My husband fries his fresh caught fish and I bake great dinner rolls.
Lord, you know I love you, "I'll give you my very best. I'll pray and serve & teach the kids, I'll even give up Sabbath rest."
"My child, I know your works and all that you can do. But, what I really want, is all your heart and to do a work in you.
My spirit longs to give you peace, and joy and hope and rest. That is when you will serve me at your very best.
So, if you choose to wear my yoke and gently learn of me, You will become the Godly woman you always yearned to be."
